2008 is almost over, and what a year it has been at the PoW! Mini-fests galore, awesome bands - both local and international - and the introduction of late night DJ's have cemented our reputation as a great venue for music, and our coverage of the AFL, EPL and Formula 1 (amongst other sports) coupled with the brand new pair of dartboards means that those of a sportier outlook have had much to enjoy as well!

But that was this year... what about 2009? Well, we intend to start with a bang, seeing in the New Year in style... of a sort! December 31st will see our DEEP, DOWN AND SKIRTY party with anyone who comes in a skirt drinking for free - and yes, that includes any guys who dare! (Watch out for full details on this page very soon...)

After that we launch into '09 building on everything that made us a well-loved nightspot this year... on the mini-fest front we will be bringing you another Re:COVER festival (for cover bands), another FemmeVox (for female vocalists) and, of course, our third Jeff Buckley Birthday Tribute Concert. Plans are also afoot for another multi-arts collaboration with [in]Parties and other themes to be explored...

We'll also be continuing our sports coverage, especially of the AFL - why would you want to watch it anywhere but this proper Aussie pub!!?? Grand Final Day is still 10 months away, but we're looking forward to it already! And while we're on the subject of all things Australian, watch out for details of our alternative Australia Day Ball in January...

All in all the PoW is excited about 2009 and we want you to be excited about spending some quality time with us throughout the year!!! So enjoy the rest of '08 while you can because '09 is hot on it's heels and raring to party down at the PoW!
